The Benefits of Heat Pumps

Heat pumps sometimes referred to as mini-splits, are similar to any other appliance you may own at home. The term mini-split refers to how a unit is divided into two sections that provide a heating and cooling function. Although a heat pump may not be the only source of heat you have at home, it can provide the majority of all your heating and cooling needs. One of the best benefits of a heat pump is that it is more efficient at reducing monthly energy costs than traditional systems.

Comfort and Convenience

One of the things many customers enjoy about heat pumps is their ability to cool or heat efficiently. The mini-split, especially one of Fujitsu’s high wall indoor units, can quickly cool or heat your living space or room.

Another option for some of our units is that they come with Wi-Fi capabilities. If you wish to come home to a cool indoor environment on a hot day, you can instantly adjust the temperature using a smartphone app. The same can be done with heating during winter.

When using the AC function, there is no mess or container to empty since condensation is drained right outside. You can also dehumidify without running the AC.

Eco-Friendly and Improves Air Quality

Heat pumps are one of the most energy-efficient products on the market today. Since they do not need to burn fuel to generate heat, there are no carbon emissions. In order to heat or cool a room, these systems only rely on a small amount of electricity.

Heat pumps do not generate smoke, soot, or fumes. The filters also clean and purify circulating air, removing airborne contaminants such as dust, mold spores, odors, and other particles. Those with allergies or asthma absolutely benefit from using a mini-split system.

Safe and Adds Value to Your Home

Mini-split systems are immensely safe. Unlike gas heating systems or wood burners, they can be left on for long periods without issues. They also do not pose any immediate hazard, such as hot surfaces which can hurt a child or cause a fire.

Due to their safe and efficient nature, heat pumps add significant value during your stay at home. They also bring value when you’re selling your property.

How Do Heat Pumps Work?

Heat pumps share the same technology as familiar appliances, such as refrigerators and air conditioners; however, they have indoor and outdoor components. As electrical devices, they allow you to transfer heat energy from one area to another. They do this by circulating a substance called refrigerant through a cycle of evaporation and condensation.

Installed Heat Pump

The refrigerant is pumped between two heat exchanger coils by a compressor, allowing it to absorb heat from its surroundings when evaporated at low pressure. It then becomes compressed when traveling to the other coil, where it condenses under high pressure and then releases the heat acquired from the earlier cycle.

Refrigerators or air conditioners are examples of heat pumps operating in only their cooling mode. Unlike these cooling appliances, mini-splits like those produced by Fujitsu provide your home with year-round climate control. With them, you can keep your house warm during the long Maine winters and cool during hot and humid summer days.
